Frequently Asked Questions
Are you taking new patients?
No, my practice is full at this juncture. If I have openings for new patients in the future, the office telephone greeting message will reflect this.
Where is the practice located?
The office is located in Building B of Fralin & Waldron Office Park at the confluence of Chaparral Drive, Electric Road, and Penn Forest Boulevard.
What are the office hours?
I see patients by appointment only. Usual office hours are Monday - Friday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. For after hours emergencies, go to urgent care or Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital Emergency Department for evaluation. ER staff can contact me if my virtual services are needed urgently.
Do you accept insurance?
I am currently participating as a gyn specialist doctor with BlueCross BlueShield (PPO), Anthem (PPO), Anthem HealthKeepers, Aetna PPO, Cigna Healthcare (PPO), Coventry Healthcare (PPO), United Healthcare (PPO), Gateway Health Alliance, Piedmont Community HealthCare, PHCS Savility, Meritain, Multiplan Network, Optima Health/Sentara, PHCS Network, PHCS Savility,Virginia Health Network, & ValuePoint. Call me if you have questions about whether or not I participate with your plan. Your insurance carrier can tell you if Dr. Laura L. Moylan is in your network if you call the number on the back of your card. If I am not a participating provider, you pay at the time service is rendered, & I provide you with an itemized statement to submit to your managed care insurance carrier for reimbursement. I do not participate with Medicare, medicaid, or TriCare. Patients can waive their Medicare & Medigap insurance benefits and see me, paying out-of-pocket at the time of service. My medical fees are tax deductible.
What if I need laboratory studies?
Most laboratory studies are sent out (Pap smears, STD tests, cultures, biopsies, etc...) and the lab will file your claim with your insurance carrier. Dr. Moylan will call you about 7-10 days after your testing with your test results. Do NOT assume that "no news means the results are normal." Be sure to keep your voicemail box empty, and call Dr. Moylan if you do not hear from her.
What if I need surgery?
If surgery like a hysterectomy or hysteroscopy D&C is necessary, I will refer you to a specialist who best fits your needs. There are so many medical options for treatment, that surgery is rarely necessary in my practice. If you have been told that surgery is your only option, you may wish to consult me, as you may not be aware of all non-surgical options for your condition.
Will I be evaluated by anyone other than Dr. Moylan?
No, I am the only physician in our quiet, private, small office. We strive to provide a warm, compassionate atmosphere for you to discuss your personal needs comfortably. My paper medical records are private and secure and will only be sent to other providers at your personal request. We comply with the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996 established national standards to protect patient's personal and medical records.
What are your Covid-19 precautions?
Fully vaccinated, we wear N95 masks. Only one patient is in the office at a time. All patients double mask for the 15-20 minute examination visit, which follows a telemedicine visit. All clerical matters, history taking, and medication management is performed via telemedicine, which is very flexible in timing. I can see you in the comfort of home, or during your lunch break from the privacy of your vehicle!
